Apple trees are happier than me.

Some are gone, some stayed here.
I feel so alone. Her smile was all I need.
Empty existence.
I'll spend this night with his face in my head. Only in my head.
I'll also watch the t.v. and its sad news about wars, deaths and fears. It will no more shock me.
I'll appreciate it more than my poor feeling.
Maybe I'll write one more song, one more poem or one more morbid novel.
But be sure that I'll use my Absinthe and make the bottle empty as my mind.
I'll be crying, I'll be dangerous, I'll be unstable.
Someone may come to make sure that I'm not on Earth anymore.

Please change your mind.
Please, come back dear pretty love.

I am STIEG.

Our guide is back - A review of Born Villain

This morning I listened to the new Marilyn Manson's album called "Born Villain".
I had high expectations of this album and I've been served.

There a are a lot of styles used on this opus.
Sometimes heavy, sometimes trash but sometimes new wave and pretty too.
It's not my favorite one but it has definitely buried the last two albums (Eat Me, Drink Me & The High End Of Low author's note) which were too personal, Marilyn Manson has too much shared his feelings.
We loved when he shared hate and blames or when he let us imagine the film of each song. Not the contrary.

I'll now give you a short feeling about the songs, one by one.
Be care, world is cruel, something violent is coming.

Born Villain

"Hey, Cruel World"
Nice introduction, quiet and hard too, the guitar sounds really angry and the voice too beside the gloomy victim start.
"I am among no one" explain all, he's not a chief, a star, he's us.

"No Reflection"
First single from the album and maybe the best for the last  nine years.
He warn us that the following will be violent.

Manson explains that there are several people in his mind but he can't choose one.
Music is simple but effective.

"Pistol Whipped"
A long and boring intro but the guitar at the start is nice and relaxing.
He returns back to his roots, the love for bad feelings, dark thoughts. We can just love it.

Bass is interesting, not rich but really made to accompany this song.

"Overneath The Path Of Misery"
We've already heard this song in the short film "Born Villain" directed by Shia Labeouf.
It's the heaviest voice, the angriest guitar but not the trashiest.
I just want to increase the volume and make explode my windows. Why ? No reason.

"Slo-Mo-Tion"
The song which gave me some chills from the start.
The bass is awesome and the lyrics are just deeply personal. "This is my beautiful show" describe his mind at the moment, he's happy to do what he want, without any limit and always uniquely.
He screams, I missed it !

"The Gardener"
He start with speaking, the bass follows him with perfection.
It's sounds like a speech, about evolution, weed or nature, we'll never know.
I'm swallowed by the bass.
He's definitely angry and we tend to be angry too.

"The Flowers Of Evil"
Nature again but everyone will feel the Macbeth and "Les Fleurs du Mal" influences.
It's very poetic, this song remind me the Manson I loved in the 90s. It's very pop/rock and heavy too. Really difficult to mention one style.

"Children Of Cain"
One very quiet song from start to the end, we can breath a little bit and enjoy the beautiful lyrics and th guitar which sounds like piano. Nothing else to add, enjoy it.

"Disengaged"
It's really sounds like "Deformography", it remembers the 1996 era !
I'm seduced and addicted.

"Lay Down With Your Goddam Arms"
I don't like this song, some parts sounds interesting but the choirs by Manson are useless, the guitar is boring but I love the "full-of-hate" lyrics. Invitation to fight, to cry, to shout our anger to the world.

"Murderers Are Getting Prettier Every Day"
The hardest, the fastest and the most effective song ever !
I head-bang myself from the start to the end. It is the Manson we love. Guitar is intense, drums is fast and destructive !

The solo is trash, the best ever.

"Born Villain"
Very quiet start, acoustic guitar. the singing is pleasant.
It recalls the distant past of the band...

It's not the best song but maybe the most topsy-turvy.

"Breaking The Same Old Ground"
The penultimate song, everything settles down quietly.
The storm is far now... The music is really enjoyable.

He invites us to silence, to listen with care...

"You're So Vain" featuring Johnny Depp.
The surprise, the bonus track !
I've been waiting so long...
It's pleasant, voice is perfect. The two longtime friends and now reunited with success. I played it five times, we want to smile, to forget our problems, just for a few minutes.
A really successful cover, Carly Simon can be proud.

Weed Weed

Following an experimental composition created by my dear friend and guitarist Chuck Jonson, I've worked on a text which can marry the music
That's a date with no-limit death.

I need weed
I don't need it sweet
Weed and sheep
That's all I need

Weed Weed you need
Sweet meat you eat
It's just all you need

And you and I
We convinced us to fly
From lie to stripes

Weed weed weed
I need as a feat
That grow in my tears
After the sweet sting

Wings after weed
That all acid
Acid that I tease

Now wind and I
Disperse some weed
Breath by weeders
That all we need

My child will like
When I cut his skin
Blood and weed are weak

And you and I
We think that's right
That's weed teens need.
